Zhang Gaoli, secretary of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Li Guohua, president of China Post Group jointly officiated at the ceremony on October 21 in Tianjin marking the special issue of the Tianjin Binhai New Area first-day cover.
The issue carries a set of three special stamps with a face value of 1.2 yuan (US$0.19) and a miniature stamp with a face value of 6 yuan (US$0.94). The miniature stamps picture Tianjin Harbor and the three special stamps respectively Livable Binhai New Area, National Animation Industry Park and Yujiabao Financial Area.
The design for the new sets depict well-known scenes in abstract style, featuring vivid colors and stark lines portraying the promising future of Binhai New Area.
The Second Philatelic Holiday to mark the special issue took place the same day, along with the Ninth Tianjin Philatelic Exhibition held at the Tanggu Postal Bureau to celebrate the second anniversary of the establishment of Binhai New Area.
October 21 also saw the launch in nine countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Singapore, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, of sets of stamps picturing Binhai New Area of Tianjin and its developments in transportation, finances, and Hi-tech.
