Beijing Hosts 2010 International Stamp and Coin Exposition2010-03-15The 2010 Beijing International Stamp and Coin Exposition (BISCE) opened in Beijing on November 7.
Co-sponsored by the China Gold Coin Inc. (CGCI), the China National Philatelic Corp, the China Banknote Printing and Minting Corp., and the China Numismatic Museum, the four-day expo attracted the participation of 46 foreign companies from 27 countries or regions, and 198 domestic companies.
The expo showcased rare stamps issued by China and other countries, held activities marking the 170th anniversary of the world's first stamp -- the Penny Black, conducted special auctions of stamps and coins, and held a forum on cultural collections.
Vice General Manager of the China Post Feng Xinsheng attended the Expo's inaugural ceremony on November 7.
The China Post also issued special imperforated stamps for the large-scale Expo, the 15th of its kind in China; and the People's Bank of China issued commemorative silver coins.
Reportedly the Expo visitors reached 30,000 in the first two days.
