The 2014 Cross-Straits Postal Development Symposium was held in Beijing on July 7, 2014.
Attendees of the symposium from both the Chinese mainland and China’s Taiwan communicated on many issues important to both sides, including the e-commerce business, the express delivery business and cross-Straits financial cooperation. Future collaboration between the two sides was also discussed at the symposium.
China’s Taiwan Province has been the Chinese mainland’s 7th biggest trade partner and the 6th largest source of imports, the Chinese mainland is also Taiwan Province’s biggest trading partner and the largest source of imports. The two sides have a lot of potential in the collaboration of postal businesses. Since the establishment of the cross-Straits postal business in December 2008, the two sides have opened up businesses including mail and package businesses, express delivery businesses, and electronic remittance.
