This autumn, we celebrate the 44th World Post Day immediately following China's National Day on October 1. On behalf of the China Post Group Corporation, I would hereby like to send my regards to all the staff of China Post. And I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the Party and government departments, all sectors of society, and our clients for their care and support in the development of postal business. 

"Reaching Everyone Everywhere" is the theme of China Post's celebrations of this year's World Post Day. This theme particularly reflects the core values of China Post. By revealing China Post's advantages in serving numerous families depending on its postal network across China, the theme shows the highest mission of China Post is in facilitating economic development and meeting people's needs. 

In recent years, China Post has made development its top priority. It has made great efforts to change its development mode and improve the quality and efficiency of development. By taking these effective measures, it promotes its postal business to maintain good momentum. It has played a positive role in the growth of state-owned enterprises. 

China Post makes full use of the advantages of its network with many branches covering areas and postal routes, as well as the combination of physical mail and package deliveries, cash and information flows. China Post has played an active role in helping the state provide equal and basic public services to all citizens. In order to carry out its responsibility fully during the social and economic development, it has built a comprehensive postal services platform, which covers urban and rural areas with its various services. Both the people and government are satisfied with the platform. 

Meanwhile, China Post has steadily improved its overall strength. In 2013, it was ranked 196 on the Fortune 500 list, an upward movement of 62 places compared to 2012, and 147 compared to 2011. It is the first time China Post makes it into the top 200 rankings on the list. 

Currently, China Post is accelerating the development of postal business with Chinese characteristics in line with the direction of developing the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Facing changing situations and new requirements of economic and social development, China Post will stick to these five principles: 

Unswervingly adhering to scientific development, accelerating the transformation of the development mode, and making efforts to achieve cost-effective, quality, sustainable development;

Unswervingly pushing forward reform and innovation, constantly emancipating and developing productive forces, properly handling the relationships between reform, development and stability, as well as channeling new blood into sustainable development of enterprises;

Unswervingly implementing strategy to develop postal services with science and technology, promoting scientific and technological progress and independent innovation, improving the mechanism of adopting technological innovation in practice, making more investments in technology, as well as using technology to support the development and in leading to the future.

Unswervingly strengthening scientific management and control, improving headquarters' capacity to make strategic plans and scientific decisions, increasing management efficiency, improving intensive services, integrating network resources and cooperative work. China Post will strengthen guidance to all its branches and provide better services to front-line workers.

Unswervingly improve service levels, establishing a customer-centric service philosophy, enhancing service capabilities, improving service standards, and improving our postal brand's image. 

In the near future, we will build China Post into a world class postal company with a competitive edge and the capabilities to maintain sustainable development. It will feature a standardized management structure, the best services, efficient operations and leading-scale merit. 

As an important basic industry and public service facility of the State, China Post will take the opportunity of the Party's 'mass line' campaign to change its working style according to the direction of the leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council. We will be realistic and pragmatic, and work hard to continue to push the postal business with Chinese characteristics forward as a way to contribute to realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

China Post Life Insurance Corporation Limited (China Post Life) is a state-owned life insurance company that opened for business in 2009.

As of June 2013, it has set up 20,287 branches, expanding to 949 counties in 195 cities in 14 provinces, municipalities and regions including Jiangxi, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan and Heilongjiang provinces, Tianjin and Beijing municipalities, and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Approved by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, China Post Life has also established Hunan and Guangdong branches.

In August 2012, the Competitiveness of China’s Life Insurance Companies report released by the Central University of Finance and Economics ranked China Post Life No. 1 for its development potential among the 46 Chinese life insurance companies. In other aspects, its operational abilities were ranked N0. 2, comprehensive competitiveness No. 9, profitability No. 7, and risk control ability No. 9.

Currently, the company has more than 1,850,000 clients. The total proceeds of business in the entire year of 2012 reached 15.5 billion yuan (US$ 2.52), up by 86.35 percent on a year-on-year basis, making it one of China’s top 10 enterprises in the life insurance industry. Its aggregate revenue reached 14.54 billion yuan (US$ 2.37 billion), up by 81.26 percent on a year-on-year basis, ranking it first for its growth speed among the top 10 enterprises in the life insurance industry.
