The story "PSBC Listed on Hong Hong Stock Exchange" was selected among the 2016 Top Ten China Banking Events by the China Bank Regulatory Commission (CBRC) and China Banking Association (CBA) in Beijing on January 9.
Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC) won the Outstanding Contribution Award in the 2016 China Banking Good News selection.
CBA has organized the annual top ten banking events selection for ten consecutive years, which reviews the results of banks' development, displays the important influence of the banking industry in economic life and establishes a good social image that promotes brands.
The 2016 Top Ten China Banking Events election campaign has gained support from member units and the news media since it was launched in November 2016. CBA received a total of 353 events submitted by 53 member units, nine mainstream media and 15 professional committees.
PSBC (stock code: 1658.HK) was awarded for its public listing on Hong Kong's main board. It began trading on September 28, 2016, becoming the biggest IPO (initial public offering) of the year on global capital markets.
The jury said it believes the IPO showed that share reform at six large state-owned commercial banks is successful, and state-owned financial share-holding system reform and commercialization in China have made significant progress.
To further guide news media to report the achievements of the banking industry, CBA has held banking industry good news selection for five consecutive years since 2012.
In 2016, the association received a total of 147 news stories contributed by 65 member units and 37 news media outlets, 50 percent more than in 2015.
The use of new media to bring in mass evaluation for the first time achieved wide public participation in the event.
The award-winning works were finally selected after review from regulatory authorities, the financial sector, universities and other experts and scholars from all walks of life.
PSBC won the Outstanding Contribution Award for organizing special coverage on the establishment of its rural finance division and professional service system for agriculture.
