Ge Jun, a postman of China Post Golmud in northwest China's Qinghai Province who works on the "Swan Goose Skyline" road, was named one of "China's Most Moving Internet Figures in 2017," an event sponsored by Xinhua News Agency in Beijing on January 19.
“As a unique postman in one of the world's most remote areas, Hoh Xil, Ge has travelled 350,000 kilometers in his postal car in the past seven years. Difficulties, diseases and loneliness couldn't stop him. What he sends are not only letters, but also the sincerest interpersonal exchanges,” a member of the judging panel said.
The mail road between Golmud and Tanggulashan County is nearly 500 kilometers, with an average altitude of 4,500 meters.
On a mail road with 23 mail transfer points, 41-year-old Ge, as a mail carrier serving people from the Party, government, army and herdsmen in remote pastoral areas on the Tibetan Plateau, has shown his love for postal work through his dedicated work.
His hard work has been recognized by the Central Government as well as Qinghai and Golmud authorities.
