China always attaches great importance to protecting consumers’ rights and interests. China Consumers’ Association, established in 1984, has been holding activities annually to celebrate the “March 15—World Consumer Rights Day” since 1986. In 1987, China Consumers’ Association joined the Consumers International. In 1993, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests was promulgated, which clearly defined the consumers’ rights and interests. Over the past three decades, Chinese consumers’ awareness of legally safeguarding their rights and interests has greatly improved, the rights and interests of Chinese consumers have received effective protection and the “March 15” has become a popular synonym for the protection of the rights and interests of consumers.
