The International Horticultural Exposition, considered the “Olympics” of horticulture, is a specialized international exhibition approved by the International Association of Horticultural Producers. International Horticultural Exposition 2014 Qingdao was scheduled to be held in Qingdao, Shandong Province, from April 25 to October 25, 2014. The theme of the Expo 2014 is “From the earth, for the Earth”, while the emblem and mascot are “celestial beauty scattering flowers” and “Sea Elf — Qingqing”, respectively. The Expo site covers a total area of 241 hectares. Located in the southern part of the Flying Flower Zone, the Theme Pavilion is a landmark building of the Expo, taking on the appearance of Chinese rose, the city flower of Qingdao. The Botanical Pavilion adopts the “leaf” design, consisting of the Marine Plants Section, the Bamboo and Rattan Section, and the Temperate Plants Section.
China National Philatelic Corporation will issue a FDC and a commemorative cancellation respectively.
