The first Winter Olympics, the 1924 Winter Olympics, were held in Chamonix, France and the first Winter Paralympic Games were held in 1976 in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden.
At the beginning, the Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympics took place in the same year but in different places.
They began to be held in the same city in 1992.
The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, a county in north China's Hebei Province, in February and the 2022 Paralympics are scheduled to take place in Beijing in March.
They will be the first Winter Olympics to be held in China and the third Olympic Games to be held in China after the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics and the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
The events will promote the Olympic spirit in China and further enhance the state's winter sports competitiveness level.
