The UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) Delivery Test Flight Ceremony of China Post Beijing was held in Zhaitang Post Office, one of its branches, in Mentougou District of Beijing, on July 13, 2018.

It is known that mountainous area accounts for 98.5% of the total area in Mentougou District. Zhaitang Post Office is in charge of the mail delivery of the mountainous area there.

China Post Beijing has been constantly innovating its concept of service in order to provide more convenient, accurate and rapid postal service for the government and people in the region.

They once used bicycles and automobiles to deliver mail. But now, they are trying UAVs, a means of precision poverty alleviation and delivering mail to the countryside that also helps to reduce the cost and risk of postal transportation in remote mountainous areas.

Thus, Party newspapers and letters can be efficiently sent to the remote administrative villages the first time and solve the so-called last kilometer problem in postal service.

Additionally, China Post Beijing will solicit help from the local government and relevant authorities, and make UAV delivery part of the Government Emergency Rescue System to provide people with special emergency service, such as rapid delivery of first aid medicine and relief materials.
