German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited the Dujiangyan irrigation system in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on December 8, 2018.

Steinmeier was attracted by the postcards displayed by China Post Dujiangyan at Qin Yan Lou, a scenic spot in Dujiangyan City. He chose a panda-themed postcard, imprinted it with the "Dujiangyan, the hometown of pandas" postmark, and left it as a souvenir.

Steinmeier kicked off a state visit to China from December 5 to 10. This was his first visit to China since Steinmeier took office as German President in March 2017.

Sichuan was the second stop of his visit. As an exhibitor of creative products and distinguished guest, China Post Dujiangyan displayed more than 30 kinds of postcards and stamp albums of Dujiangyan, the hometown of pandas, on the second floor of Qin Yan Lou.

The Dujiangyan is an ancient irrigation system in Dujiangyan City, Sichuan, China. Originally constructed around 256 BC by the State of Qin as an irrigation and flood control project, it is still in use today.
