China Post Managing Director Zhang Jinliang and China Telecom General Manager Ke Ruiwen signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the two sides in Beijing on December 21, 2018.
The signing ceremony also featured China Post President Liu Aili, Deputy Managing Director Zhang Ronglin, China Telecom Chairman Yang Jie and Deputy General Manager Chen Zhongyue.
As large state-owned enterprises, China Post and China Telecom have advantages in resources, business and services in their respective fields. The two sides have previously carried out successful, long-term cooperation in infrastructure and communication services, finance and delivery logistics.
In line with the principle of “resource sharing, complementary advantages, win-win cooperation and common development,” the two sides have decided to strengthen their strategic partnership, further enhance core competitiveness in the fields of digital services, better realize the missions of state-owned enterprises in the new era, and make greater contributions to the construction of a digital China and intelligent society.
According to the agreement, the two sides will promote extensive cooperation in many fields.
First, infrastructure and communication services: China Telecom will provide basic communications and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions, innovative product development, data centers and cloud services for China Post.
Second, financial cooperation: China Telecom regards the Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC) as a strategic cooperative bank, and conducts extensive business cooperation in banking, insurance, securities, capital and other financial fields.
Third, channel cooperation: Depending on their respective resources, the two sides will deepen their network and business cooperation by mutually advancing their respective channels, exchanging resources and jointly constructing Smart Family experience stores.
Fourth, cooperation in big data and the Internet of Things: The two sides will carry out big data cooperation in finance, logistics, insurance and other fields, and explore cooperation in the Internet of Things.
Fifth, cooperation in new technology development: The two sides will jointly explore Internet finance, science and technology innovation in laboratories, and promote business development through technological innovation and sharing research results.
Sixth, cooperation in delivery and logistics business: Both sides will consolidate and expand cooperation in delivery, warehousing, transportation, etc.
Seventh, customer service and publicity cooperation: Based on the principle of reciprocity and mutual benefit, the two sides will cooperate in credit, give full play to their respective advantages in media channels, and strengthen resource-sharing and collaboration.
