On April 18, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Transport and the CPC Sichuan Provincial Party Committee jointly held a public lecture on Chemi Dorjee’s meritorious deeds in Beijing, studying and publicizing the exemplary deeds and the noble character of Chemi Dorjee, the “role model of the times”. An audience of more than 700, including representatives from enterprises directly under the central government, the transportation industry, China Post Group and people from all walks of life in the capital city attended the lecture.

Chemi Dorjee is a mail truck driver of Ganzi Postal Subbranch of Sichuan province, transporting mail along the Ganzi-Dege section of the Sichuan-Tibet postal route. He loves his job and is very dedicated. For 30 years, he has been driving his mail truck through the “Snowline Postal Route” with an average altitude of 3,500 meters, covering an accumulated mileage of 1.4 million kilometers without any liability accident. He is strong-willed. He stepped forward boldly when attacked by gangsters, risking his life to guard the mail. When severely wounded, he persisted in rehabilitation exercise and returned to work with his perseverance. He cherishes his team and sticks to his post on the Sichuan-Tibet postal route, transmitting the voice of the CPC Central Committee and mail items from all over the country to every corner of the snow-covered land. With his sincere dedication, he has made positive contributions to the economic and social development of Tibetan areas, and is praised as the “happiness messenger along the snowline postal route”.

At the public lecture, Li xianhua, general manager of China Post’s subbranch of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Zeng Shuangquan, the 17th leader of the former 5th Quershan highway maintenance squad and staff member of Kangding branch of the highway administration bureau of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province, Tashi Zeweng, network dispatcher of Ganzi subbranch of China Post and younger son of Chemi Dorjee, Wu Guangyu, reporter of the Sichuan Branch of Xinhua News Agency, talked about the meritorious deeds of Chemi Dorjee from different angles and aspects. Chemi Dorjee also shared his own psychological journey and insights. The lecture was very touching and inspiring. The audience were so deeply infected that applauses frequently burst out at the venue. They all said that Chemi Dorjee has made extraordinary achievements on his ordinary position, so they would study his exemplary deeds and learn his noble character and valuable spirit, thereby remaining true to the original aspiration and keeping firmly in mind the mission of national rejuvenation, endeavoring to be the builders and guardians of a happy and beautiful life, as well as strivers and dream chasers of the new era.
