On April 29, the 1st day of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing China (Beijing Expo 2019), a release ceremony of commemorative stamps of the same name was held at the expo park. Dai Yingjun, Deputy Director of the State Post Bureau, Kang Ning, Deputy Managing Director of China Post Group, and Lin Jinwen, Chief Economic Manager of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition Coordination Bureau (BIHECB) , attended the ceremony.

Beijing Expo 2019 is an important part of China's home diplomatic events this year and a showcase of the efforts made in ecological conservation. Through the issuance of these commemorative stamps, China Post is to use postage stamp as an ambassador to convey to the world President Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological conservation, follow through the concept of green development, push ahead with the construction of a beautiful China, and eventually contribute to the cooperation among nations of the world.

Beijing Expo 2019 is held from April 29 to October 7, lasting altogether 162 days. During this period, China Post will exert its advantages in diversified services and provide full-featured universal service and consignments of licensed products inside and outside the park for the 110 participating countries and 16 million tourists from home and abroad, thus contributing to the success of the Expo.

The commemorative stamps consist of 2 pieces in each set, the designs of which are respectively named as green life and beautiful homeland. One of the design includes such major elements as the Great Wall winding among the green mountains, the Chinese roses—the city flower of Beijing and the expo logo—Flower of the Great Wall, which highlights the “Chinese style” and “Beijing brand”, and implies that horticulture originates from nature and that it advocates respect for and integration into nature. The other design is base on the international pavilion and the China pavilion of the Expo as well as the mascots of the expo, Xiaomengya and Xiaomenghua. Full of vigor and vitality, this design indicates that people should pursue a philosophy of life and work that is green, low-carbon and eco-friendly.

At the release ceremony, Beijing Postal Branch issued first day cover of the same theme with the commemorative stamps. The Beijing Expo 2019 Theme Post Office and its dedicated postcode 102019 were also unveiled at the ceremony. To better serve the Expo, Beijing Postal Branch deployed a theme post office and several postal outlets in the expo park, offering parcel service, commemorative covers and postcards sales and postmarks stamping services.

Executive committee of Beijing Expo 2019 and BIHECB gave strong support to the release event. To extend its gratitude, China Post presented the commemorative stamp sheet with the serial No.1 to BIHECB at the ceremony. The guests attending the event addressed their first day cover on site and dropped them into the mailbox to send their best wishes to nature and the motherland.
