On August 20, Qinghai Postal Branch, together with Qinghai Forestry and Grassland Bureau and Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration Bureau, held the first-issue ceremony of Hoh Xil special prepaid postcards at the site of the National Park Forum at Sofitel Xining.  Wang Shuqiao, Vice President of Qinghai Postal Branch, read the issuance announcement. Li Xiaonan, Director of Qinghai Forestry and Grassland Bureau, He Wancheng, Director of Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration Bureau, and Wang Huming, designer of this set of special postcards, jointly unveiled the postcards.

In this set of postcards, the designer selected the comparatively representative glaciers, rivers, lakes, marshy grasslands, animals and vegetation to reflect the unique and diverse landscapes and wildlife in Hoh Xil, presenting to the world the unique natural beauty of Hoh Xil, the World Natural Heritage Site. Among the designs, the vegetation pictures were taken with a Huawei P30 Pro smartphone. This is the first time ever for pictures taken by a smartphone to appear on postcards issued by China Post.

After the ceremony, the postcard designer Wang Huming offered his autograph to the enthusiastic philatelists waiting expectantly in a long queue in the drizzle for the precious memento.

The issuance of the postcards will play an active part in publicizing and protecting the World Heritage Site Hoh Xil.

The first-issue events of the Hoh Xil special prepaid postcards were also held in Yushu and Golmud of Qinghai province.
