The designs of the stamps are named respectively as Sustainable and Sound Development of Economy, Advance of socialist democracy and politics, Flourishing Culture, Improvement of Life Standard, and Construction of Beautiful China. The design of the souvenir sheet is entitled Blessing the Motherland. The face value of the whole set is 12 yuan.

In addition, China Post will join hands with Hongkong Post and Macao Post and Telecommunications (CTT) to issue a souvenir sheet booklet with the same theme including 3 souvenir sheets released by China Post, Hongkong Post and CTT respectively.

The year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC. Having overcome numerous difficulties and won one victory after another over the past seven decades, the Communist Party of China (CPC), together with Chinese people, has forged ahead, and created earthshaking miracles in the history of human development, enabling the Chinese civilization to show fresh vitality in the process of modernization, the scientific socialism to thrive with new dynamism in the 21st century and the Chinese nation to prosper.

With the issuance of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of PRC commemorative stamps on this special occasion, China Post intends to display the great achievements of China in economy, politics, culture, social life and ecological conservation.

Bearing the composition of murals and se-tenant (stamps of different color, value and design printed on the same sheet) form, the stamps are solemn in design and fresh in style. The first design of the stamps encompasses the elements of urban construction, high-speed rail, aerospace engineering, communications and Internet, etc., as well as intelligent equipment manufacturing, together with the image of the workers, revealing the theme of “continuous and healthy development of the economy”. The second design bears the elements of the Great Hall of the People, legal texts, etc., together with the images of deputies of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), reflecting the improvement of the institutions, standards, and procedures of socialist democracy. The third design shows the flourishing culture of China with the images of public cultural facilities such as the National Museum, the National Centre for the Performing Arts, and the National Stadium, together with dancers and athletes. The fourth design highlights the theme of “better life” with the elements representing education, medical care and social security, matching with the images of children, to show that Chinese people’s sense of fulfillment, happiness and security are becoming more substantial, more secure and more sustainable. The fifth design contains the elements of green hills and clear waters, the boundless expanse of forests and so on, complete with the images of the mother and the child planting trees, to show the tranquility, harmony and beauty of the nature and highlight the theme of “beautiful China”. The design of the souvenir sheet is the number “70” backed with the peony pattern and a huge sailing ship, edging with people of all ethnic groups in China singing and dancing for celebration, implying “blessing the motherland” for her 70th birthday.

The stamps are designed by Yuan Yishan. The painting of the 56 ethnic groups used as the edging of the souvenir sheet is originally co-painted by He Jie, He Zhong and Feng Xiaohong. The stamps are printed in photogravure by the Beijing Stamp Factory.
