China Post to ensure smooth operation for Double 11 peak season
| China Post |2019-11-12

On the evening of November 11, the critical time for the postal operation nationwide during the annual “Double 11” peak season, Liu Aili, Chairman of China Post Group, and Zhang Ronglin, Vice President of China Post Group, visited Beijing Comprehensive Mail Center (BCMC) to inspect the postal operation and extend solicitude to the frontline postal staff.

Liu Aili pointed out that it was necessary to fully understand the significance of supporting "Double 11" shopping spree. At the time when the whole express delivery industry is faced with great pressure and challenge, China Post must stay confident and shoulder its responsibilities as the "national team" of the industry.

"Double 11" (Nov 11) is not only a shopping spree for consumers, but also a good development opportunity for merchants and the express industry. According to the monitoring data from the State Post Bureau, all postal and express delivery companies across the country handled a record 535 million packages on Nov 11 alone -- a year-on-year increase of 28.6%, tripling the average daily processing volume in Q2, which posed a great challenge to these companies.

On Nov 11, China Post received over 100 million orders, among which the number of parcels and express items reached 66.68 million—with a year-on-year increase of 91.5%. China Post had taken precautions by building and expanding a number of key mail centers in advance, enabling the daily average processing capability of the entire postal network to increase by 26 million pieces. So far, there were no restriction and backlogs of mail processing among the postal enterprises nationwide.

Liu Aili emphasized that postal enterprises should make careful arrangements to highlight the brand image of China Post as the “national team” of China's postal industry. On Nov 11, though the collection volume of Zhejiang Postal Branch and Jiangsu Postal Branch reached up to 16.11 million items and 9.73 million items respectively, their operation kept stable, without any restriction, rejection or backlog, showing that the two branches had made remarkable achievements by promoting small package collective processing mode, optimizing processes, and well organizing. He urged other branches to learn from them, striving to avoid rejection, restriction and backlogs, ensure the smooth operation of the sorting systems, information systems and transportation, and guarantee the safety of postal staff.

At the start of the "Double 11" peak season, Liu Aili, on behalf of the Leading Party Members’ Group of China Post, expressed his sincere respect and heartfelt thanks to the hardworking postal staff in different positions, especially those working overtime in the frontline.  He called on all the staff members to participate in the peak season operation with high morale and hard work in order to deliver a good report to the whole society and make greater contribution to building China Post into the “national team” of the postal sector and achieving quality development.
