On January 16, the 750th day countdown to the opening of the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (hereinafter referred to as “Beijing 2022”), the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (BOCOG) and China Post Group Corporation Limited (China Post Group) jointly organized the first-issue ceremony of commemorative stamps for the Mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. He Jianghai and Xu Zhijun, deputy secretaries-general of BOCOG, Dai Yingjun, Deputy Director-General of the State Post Bureau, and Kang Ning, Vice President of China Post Group, jointly unveiled the commemorative stamps. At the same time, the ordinary prepaid envelopes and postcards for Beijing 2022 mascots were also unveiled at the ceremony.
The commemorative stamps for Beijing 2022 mascots consist of a set of 2 stamps, respectively named The Mascot of Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games and The Mascot of Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. The overall designs are simple and elegant, with white background and black and red mascots forming a strong contrast, creating a fresh and bright visual effect. A total of 22 "Beijing 2022" words appear on the white background of the two stamps. In terms of design, they are in line with the commemorative stamps for Beijing 2022 emblems issued in 2017, making an integral part of the series.
The design of the stamp sheets is especially unique this time. First of all, the lovely images of Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon are added to the edgings of the sheets, enriching the contents of the whole picture and enhancing the visual enjoyment of the stamp sheets. Secondly, on the edging of the sheets, hollowed-out and semi hollowed-out perforation technologies are used for the first time to carve a total of 22 snowflakes, making them looming on the edging, creating the romantic and dynamic effect of the snow and ice of winter sports, at the same time enhancing the anti-counterfeiting nature of the stamps. Thirdly, the edgings of the sheets continue the features of the Beijing 2022 stamp series by printing QR codes on them. Scanning the QR codes, you can enjoy the wonderful video of the stamps. Meanwhile, you can also learn more about the stories behind the stamps by scanning the stamps with the WeChat applet "Encyclopedia of Chinese Philately and Stamps".
At the same time, China Post has launched a series of postal products such as first day covers, stamp folders and stamp albums etc., for sale at postal outlets. Some products are also available at the Olympic official flagship store (https://theolympicstore.tmall.com/) and the Beijing 2022 licensed products official stores.
Under the guidance and support of BOCOG, China Post has already issued two sets of commemorative stamps for the emblem and snow sports as well as emblem stamps dedicated for personalized services, and developed over 80 related products.
China Post, as the Official Postal and Express Courier Services Exclusive Supplier of Beijing 2022, will provide Beijing 2022 with a full range of postal services and products such as EMS, express parcel service, philatelic products, envelopes, postcards and so on during the preparation period, as well as comprehensive on-site services during the Games, so as to fully satisfy the postal demands of Beijing 2022.
