Vice Minister Liu Xiaoming recognizes China Post’s efforts in fighting against the epidemic

Entrusted by Yang Chuantang, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of the Ministry of Transport, and Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport, Vice Minister Liu Xiaoming and his entourage visited China Post Group Corporation Limited on February 9. He listened to China Post's work report on the battle against the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) epidemic, acknowledged China Post for its responsibilities shouldered in the recent epidemic prevention and control work, and made related arrangements for the next step of epidemic prevention and control. Liu Aili, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Chairman of China Post Group, Wen Shaoqi, Vice President of the Group, and others, attended the meeting.

Mr. Liu Xiaoming pointed out that since the outbreak of the epidemic, the CPC Central Committee attached great importance to the issue, and the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee had held two meetings to conduct special research on it. With high political stance and consciousness, China Post Group has thoroughly studied the instruction of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and implemented conscientiously the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee. The Leading Party Members' Group of China Post responded the moment the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism on the NCP epidemic was established. Mr. Liu Aili called promptly and asked voluntarily to undertake the most urgent and most difficult task of the delivery of anti-epidemic materials. Ever since then, members of the leading Party members' group of China Post have stayed on their duties and directed at the front line proactively. The entire postal network has reacted rapidly and made remarkable contributions to the transportation and distribution of anti-epidemic emergency supplies with careful organization and efficient operation, giving full play to its irreplaceable role as a State-owned enterprise. On behalf of the Leading Party Members’ Group of the Ministry of Transport, Liu Xiaoming expressed his heart-felt gratitude and sincere solicitude to the postal staff still fighting on the front line of the battle against the epidemic.

Mr. Liu Xiaoming also noted that at present, the situation of the prevention and control of the NCP epidemic is severe and complicated. China Post should continue to take advantage of its complete system and extensive network with both land and air transport, and make every effort to ensure the transport of epidemic prevention materials, thus contributing to winning the battle against the epidemic. He demanded that, first, China Post should continue to fulfill the transportation and distribution of epidemic prevention materials, improve its distribution efficiency, and ensure rapid transportation and accurate distribution. Second, China Post should continue to fulfill the distribution of the basic necessities of life to meet people’s needs and help maintain social stability. Third, China Post should continue to devote to the distribution of farm produces, helping farmers sell their produces and facilitating the fight against poverty. Fourth, China Post should take multi-channel measures to provide personal protection gear for the front-line postal employees, especially those going in and out of Wuhan, so as to ensure their safety. In the end, China Post should raise the public awareness of its mission as "national team" of the postal industry in this process. The Ministry of Transport will in turn help to resolve problems the postal employees meet with in the passage of postal vehicles and the delivery of mail in residential communities, etc.

Mr. Liu Aili expressed his thanks to the Ministry of Transport for its care and guidance to China Post. He said that China Post will further raise its political stance,put into practice General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instruction, and keep firmly in mind its original aspiration and mission of serving the people. It will spare no effort to fulfill the plans made by the CPC Central Committee, the requirements of the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism, as well as the assignments of the Ministry of Transport, and further implement the epidemic prevention and control work, striving to provide constant service to answer the nation’s call in times of need and highlighting its role as the national team of the postal industry.   

Mr. Liu Aili also said that China Post will fully implement the requirements of the central government and attach equal importance to the epidemic prevention and control and its business development. First, China Post will give full play to its advantages of the concerted efforts and the unified command, coordination and arrangements across the entire postal network, which is complete with comprehensive and unobstructed postal information network and physical network, optimize the operation organization, and reduce the in-between procedures and provide direct and targeted transportation for the epidemic prevention supplies with designated supply and demand organizations, thus ensuring the fastest distribution of medical and protection supplies to the front line of the battle against epidemic. Second, China Post will coordinate the resources of the entire network to commit to mail delivery and distribution of daily necessities to meet the needs of the people and maintain social stability, while guaranteeing the smooth delivery of confidential correspondence communications, and Party newspapers and journals. China Post will also make full use of its advantages in channels to promote selling agricultural products to the cities, help farmers raise their income, and win the battle of poverty alleviation. At present, China Post will go all out to organize its production and operation, focusing on the provision of postal services during the epidemic prevention and control period with the most efficient organization and the most careful arrangement, thereby contributing to the battle against the epidemic.
