State Post Bureau announces postal industry performance in November 2020

On December 12, the State Post Bureau announced the performance of the postal industry in November 2020.

From January to November, the revenue of the postal industry (excluding the direct operating income of the Postal Savings Bank of China) reached 992.85 billion yuan (about 151.7 billion US dollars), up by 14.4% year-on-year. The total business turnover of the postal industry reached 1875.29 billion yuan (about 286.54 billion US dollars), up by 29.2% year-on-year. The revenue of the postal industry totaled 113.23 billion yuan (about 17.30 billion US dollars) in November, up by 15.9% year-on-year. And the total business turnover reached 241.65 billion yuan (about 36.92 billion US dollars), up by 34.6% year-on-year.  

From January to November, the turnover of postal service business totaled 254.37 billion yuan (about 38.87 billion US dollars), up by 12.6% year-on-year, of which the turnover in November reached 26.17 billion yuan (about 4 billion US dollars), up by 2.5% year-on-year. From January to November, the postal delivery service handled 23.26 billion items, up by 3.5% year-on-year.

From January to November, the express enterprises across the country handled 74.1 billion items with a total of 786.92 billion yuan (about 120.24 billion US dollars) in revenue, increasing respectively by 30.5% and 17.0% year-on-year. Among them, the intra-city business reached 11.03 billion items, up by 11.1% year-on-year. The inter-city business volume reached 61.43 billion items, up by 34.8% year-on-year. The international business volume and the business volume of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan reached 1.64 billion pieces, up by 27.8% year-on-year. In November, the express enterprises nationwide handled 9.73 billion items and totaled 95.94 billion yuan (about 14.66 billion US dollars) in revenue, increasing respectively by 36.5% and 20.4% year-on-year. 

From January to November, intra-city, inter-city, international business volume and the business volume of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan respectively accounted for 14.9%, 82.9%, and 2.2% of all express business, with business revenue accounting for 8.8%, 51.6% and 12.2% of all express delivery revenue respectively. In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the proportion of the intra-city express delivery volume decreased by 2.6%, the inter-city express delivery volume increased by 2.7%, and the international express delivery volume and the express delivery volume of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan decreased by 0.1%.

From January to November, the proportion of express delivery volume in the eastern, central and western regions was 79.5%, 13.2% and 7.3% respectively, and the proportion of business revenue was 79.7%, 11.8% and 8.5% respectively. In comparison with the same period last year, the proportion of express delivery volume went down by 0.2% in the eastern region, up by 0.4% in the central region, and down by 0.2% in the western region, and the proportion of express business revenue in the above regions was down by 0.6%, up by 0.6% and basically the same respectively.
