On the morning of April 6, the first-issue ceremony of the commemorative stamp Xiamen University Centenary Celebration, jointly sponsored by China Post Group Corporation Limited (China Post Group) and Xiamen University, was held at the theme post office of the campus cultural and creative center in Keli Building of Xiamen University. Wen Shaoqi, Vice President of China Post Group, Li Jianfa, Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC Party Committee and head of the centenary celebration office of Xiamen University, attended the ceremony. On behalf of China Post, Wen Shaoqi presented Xiamen University with two commemorative stamp sheets bearing special numbers of "19210406" and "20210406", which represent the founding date and the centenary date of Xiamen University. 

Xiamen University, established in 1921 by renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee, is the first university founded by an overseas Chinese in the history of modern Chinese education. It has also been listed among China’s leading universities on the national 211 Project and 985 Project. Li Jianfa said in his speech that in spite of their small size, the stamps reflected the profound historical heritage, excellent tradition in running the university and the spirit of keeping pace with the times of Xiamen University. They also fully revealed the great achievements China has made through its reform and open up and the great development of China’s higher education. According to Wen Shaoqi, it is the first time that digital interactive contents are applied to postage stamps in the theme of higher education, which enables the integration of the online and offline interactive functions, and facilitates the alumni all over the world to interact in the "cloud" and celebrate the centenary of Xiamen University together.

It is reported that the commemorative stamp Xiamen University Centenary Celebration is designed through computer painting. Taking the Qunxian Complex—one of Xiamen University’s iconic buildings as the main body, and with elements such as the emblem of the university, Jiannan Auditorium and ocean waves, this set of stamp is shaped in rhombus, features rigorous composition, clear layers and elegant hues, fully demonstrating the profound historical heritage, vigorous atmosphere of the times and strong regional characteristics of the university. At the same time, China Post also launched digital interactive activities of the stamp. By scanning the stamp with the AR function of the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, users can watch the promotional video of Xiamen University’s centenary celebration, learn about the stamp printing technology and give likes to the centenary of Xiamen University.
