In order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the 70th anniversary of the development of the aviation industry in the People’s Republic of China, the special stamps China Aircraft (III) were officially issued on April 17 to show the latest achievements of aviation equipment in China. Li Benzheng, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China ( AVIC), and Kang Ning, Vice President of China Post Group Co., Ltd. (China Post Group), jointly unveiled the first issue of the stamps at the ceremony held in Beijing. China Philately Co., Ltd. issued 4 first day covers of China aircraft (III) simultaneously.
The special stamps China Aircraft III issued this time consists of a set of 4 pieces, with the denomination of the whole set being 4.8 yuan, the planned circulation 8 million sets, and the circulation for layout 2 planned to be 1.05 million sheets. In addition, a stamp book of the same theme was issued with a planned circulation of 100,000 volumes. As the title shows, this is the third set of special stamps China Post has issued featuring China’s elite aircraft, after the issuance of the first two sets entitled China Aircraft and China Aircraft II respectively.
The special stamps China Aircraft (III) take four models representing the latest achievements of China's aviation industry as the main design elements. The overall picture of each stamp is in silver gray tone. According to different characteristics of the four models, targeted composition is adopted to highlight their distinctive features, reflecting the sense of technology and power in the aspect of China's aviation strength. The realistic style of the special stamps helps create a strong sense of presence and visual impact, demonstrating the splendor of China’s great strength on the stamps.
The first stamp featuring the “J-20 stealth fighter” fully shows the fighter jet’s high-speed flight posture. The second, the "Y-20 large military transport aircraft", demonstrates the tremendous size and superb carrying capacity of the transport aircraft. The third, the “Z-20 medium-lift utility helicopter”, reflects the powerful and comprehensive performance of the helicopter in missions of transportation, emergency rescue and disaster relief in plateau areas. The fourth, the “AG600 amphibious aircraft’’, showcases the distinctive features of amphibious aircraft operating both in the air and on the water.
In order to fully implement the important instruction made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on carrying forward the spirit of aviation industry in serving the country and speeding up building China into an air power, China Aircraft (III), taking postage stamp—the "national business card" as a medium, fully displays to the general public at home and abroad the brilliant achievements China's aviation industry has made in the past 70 years, popularizes the aviation culture and the philatelic culture, further enhances the nation’s confidence in aviation culture, inspires and mobilizes the aviation staff to keep on serving the country and contributing to building the air power in the new era.
