Jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Renmin University of China and Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC), the National Academy of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of Renmin University of China was officially inaugurated on May 8. Wang Jiangping, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Liu Wei, President of Renmin University of China, and Zhang Jinliang, Chairman of Postal Savings Bank of China, attended the inauguration ceremony and delivered speeches. They signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the three parties and jointly inaugurated the academy.

Mr. Wang Jiangping pointed out that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will focus on doing a good job in the three areas of the policy system, service system, and development environment, strive to solve the two main tasks of alleviating the difficulty and high cost of financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, and protecting their legitimate rights and interests, and make efforts to meet the goal of improving the innovation and professionalization of small and medium-sized enterprises. All these measures are aiming to promote the high-quality development of small and medium-sized enterprises. Wang Jiangping emphasized that the academy must adhere to the leadership of the Party and maintain the correct political direction; adhere to the overall situation and focus on the core work; adhere to the truth-seeking and pragmatic spirit and produce more high-quality masterpieces; adhere to the standardized management and form a joint force. Through integrating universities, financial institutions and other intellectual resources, it will help to establish a stable and professional research team, strengthen research on small and medium-sized enterprises, provide suggestions for the making of national strategy, and contribute to the promotion of high-quality development for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Mr. Liu Wei said that Renmin University of China will rely on tripartite high-quality resources and the support of their member units, as well as the platform of the National Academy of Development and Strategy to strive to build the National Academy of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises into a great think tank featured with new platform, large network, interdisciplinary integration, further innovation and high output, which will surely play an important role in decision-making consultation, theoretical innovation and public opinion guidance.

Mr. Zhang Jinliang said that Postal Savings Bank of China has a solid cooperation foundation with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Renmin University of China. Through the joint establishment of the academy, it will gather more resources from all walks of life such as governments, enterprises and research institutions to jointly seek the sound development path for small and medium-sized enterprises, and contribute to the implementation of national strategies and the construction of a modern economic system.

After the inauguration ceremony, the steering committee of the National Academy of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of Renmin University of China held its first meeting. During the meeting, the members of the steering committee and the staff of the academy were discussed and decided, the rules and regulations of the academy were reviewed, and the research plan for 2021 was formulated.
