The commemorative stamp entitled the 70th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet was launched in Lhasa on August 16 when people of all ethnic groups were joyfully celebrating the big event in Tibet. Gyai'ra Losang Dainzin, Vice-chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and Liu Aili, Chairman and Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of China Post Group Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as China Post Group), delivered a speech respectively and jointly unveiled the commemorative stamp. Kang Ning, Vice President of China Post Group, and other leaders concerned from Tibet Autonomous Region and China Post Group also attended the launching ceremony.
Gyai'ra Losang Dainzin, on behalf of the Party committee and government of Tibet Autonomous Region, expressed congratulations on the issuance of the stamp and extended thanks to China Post Group for its longtime care about and support for the work in Tibet. He said that over the past 70 years since the peaceful liberation of Tibet, especially since the 18th CPC National Congress, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee and with the strong support of Central Party and government departments, counterpart provinces and cities that aid Tibet, enterprises directly under the central government and the people of the whole country, Tibet has achieved a historic leap in its social system, achieved all-round economic and social development. Tibet has won a complete victory in poverty alleviation, continuously accelerated infrastructure construction, increasingly strengthened ecological security barrier, effectively consolidated ethnic unity and progress, and continuously enhanced the sense of gain, happiness and security of the people of all ethnic groups. Practice has fully proved that without the Communist Party there would be no new socialist Tibet and that the Party Central Committee's principles and policies for Tibet work are completely correct.
Liu Aili, on behalf of China Post Group, extended thanks to the Party committee and government of Tibet Autonomous Region and society for their longstanding support for the development of China’s postal industry. Liu Aili said that stamps, as the national business card, are an important medium to tell Chinese stories, spread Chinese voice, reflect Chinese spirit and display Chinese strength. In order to commemorate the epoch-making historical moment of the peaceful liberation of Tibet in a significant way, under the guidance of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee and with the support of the Party committee and government of Tibet Autonomous Region as well as State Post Bureau, China Post Group designs the set of one commemorative stamp entitled the 70th Anniversary of Tibet’s Peaceful Liberation. The stamp fully displays the brilliant achievements of Tibet’s socialist construction in the past 70 years, unfolds the beautiful picture of its accelerated development and prosperity in the new era, and demonstrates its vigorous vitality toward the future. Liu Aili said that Tibet is an important national security barrier and ecological security barrier. To serve the economic and social development of Tibet is the responsibility of China Post Group as an enterprises directly under the central government. China Post Group will give full play to its distinctive advantages of four flows (business, goods, capital and information), and actively serve Tibet in its high-quality economic and social development, the construction of ecological civilization highlands, and the action of enriching the people and prospering the border so as to make new and greater contributions to the comprehensive construction of a new socialist modern Tibet.
It is reported that the set of one stamp is to be issued on August 19. The denomination of the stamp is 1.2 yuan. It is designed by Rong Tie and Shen Jiahong and printed with photogravure technology by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited. The foreground of the picture shows the scene of local people singing and dancing and celebrating together. Behind the people, the new Tibetan houses are clean and beautiful, and the cattle and sheep are fat, showing a thriving scene. The background of the picture shows Fuxing bullet train on the plateau, lined with towering snow-capped mountains and other elements, depicting a beautiful picture of the development of Tibet in the new era.
