" The country is its people; the people are the country." This year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China(CPC). To celebrate the event and wish the great motherland prosperity, China Post has issued a special stamp entitled "Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty".

On September 25, the special stamp was launched simultaneously in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The launching ceremony was held respectively at the site of the former Peasant Movement Institute headed by Mao Zedong in Guangzhou, and Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen.

The special stamp consists of one miniature sheet, and the face value is 6 yuan, with planned circulation of 6 million sets. The stamp design is based on a Chinese painting of the same title that hangs in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The painting is a huge colored landscape, 6.5 meters high and 9 meters wide, jointly created in 1959 by Mr. Guan Shanyue, a representative of Lingnan School of Painting, and Mr. Fu Baoshi, a contemporary Chinese painter. Chairman Mao Zedong inscribed six Chinese characters as the title for this poetic painting meaning "Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty". This landscape masterpiece artistically integrates the scenery that best represents the magnificent mountains and rivers of the motherland and the spirit of the Chinese nation including the all-year-round sceneries inside and outside the Great Wall, and up and down the Yellow River. The painting perfectly interprets the shocking boldness of Mao Zedong’s praiseworthy poem, namely "Snow Tune: Spring in a Pleasure Garden", a classic in the history of Chinese art. With graphic design techniques, the stamp displays the magnificent landscapes of the original picture "Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty". With elegant traditional patterns on the decorative margins, the overall design is simple and graceful in taste, the overall effect, in a way, dignified and elegant.

China Post also issued personalized stamps in pairs under the same title "Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty" along with the special stamp. The personalized stamps were designed by Wang Huming, design director of the Postage Stamp Printing Bureau of China Post Group Co., Ltd. The main image of the personalized stamps is the Great Wall, the secondary images are the majestic painting of "Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty" and the magnificent Yellow River waterfall, with the national flower --- peonies on a yellow background decorating the margins. The images and the decorative margins complement each other, meaning wealth, prosperity, happiness of the people and beauty of the country. The square inch of the stamp reproduces the strong artistic deposits of the painting. It is reported that up to now, China Post has only issued two sets of personalized stamps in pairs, and the issue of "Our Motherland So Rich in Beauty" personalized stamps in pairs will set off a craze in philatelic circles.

It is worth mentioning, to carry forward the great spirit of fighting against the epidemic, give full play to stamps as a means of publicity and commemoration, China Post has issued a souvenir folder based on the image of Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Zhong Weide, on behalf of Zhong Nanshan’s team, was invited to attend the launching ceremony, and presented with the souvenir folder. The stamps as the "National Name Card" play their roles in paying tribute to the heroic Chinese people and showing the great strength of China.

After the ceremony, Liu Jianhui, former director of the Postage and Stamp Management Department of the State Post Bureau, gave a theme lecture of the CPC’s History on Stamps at the Guangzhou Peasant Movement Institute. He reviewed and displayed the history of the CPC's 100 years of struggle through stamps. Guangzhou Postal Branch set up a temporary theme post office at the site of the ceremony to provide citizens and stamp collectors with commemorative postmark and other services. Stamp lovers can also buy this set of stamps from the local philatelic shops, philatelic mall at China Post WeChat Post Office and China Post WeChat Mall mini program.
