| China Post News |2021-12-14

On the early morning of December 12, a B757-200F plane of China Postal Airlines took off from Nanjing Lukou International Airport in Jiangsu. After stopping over at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in Sichuan, it took off again at 7:12 and arrived safely at Tibet Nagri Gunsa Airport at 11:06. The successful maiden flight of “Chengdu-Ali” route and the previous successful test flights of “Chengdu-Lhasa” and “Lanzhou- Geermu” routes mark that China Postal Airlines has the operating ability at high plateau airports and its autonomous aviation network has the ability to cover major cities on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

In April 2010 and August 2012, China Postal Airlines flew to two plateau airports in Yushu, Qinghai and Zhaotong, Yunnan to transport emergency earthquake relief supplies.

In the past two years, in order to promote the economic and social development of the Qinghai-Tibet area and build a high-quality new Post, China Postal Airlines has completed the modification of two B757-200F aircrafts in accordance with the overall deployment of China Post Group and related requirements of civil aviation authority. On May 26 and September 16 this year, China Postal Airlines successfully completed the field test flights of “Chengdu-Lhasa” and “Lanzhou- Geermu” high plateau airport routes.

An airport with an elevation above 2438 meters is called a high plateau airport. With an altitude of 4274 meters, Nagri Gunsa Airport is the fourth highest high plateau branch airport in the world. To complete the maiden flight mission with high quality, the leaders of China Post Group attached great importance to the task and gave clear instructions. The main leaders of China Postal Airlines assumed overall responsibility and exercised management in person with every department involved making careful preparations and arranging relevant work, selecting pilots with strong technical ability, rich experience and excellent physical quality to form the first aircraft group. China Postal Airlines also held a number of meetings to coordinate relevant professionals from flight, maintenance management, operations control, operations standard and ground support, carrying out sufficient and complete technical preparations and making timely adjustments according to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. The ground support working group of Nagri Gunsa Airport got in position ahead of schedule, ensuring that all preparations for the maiden flight were in place.
