On March 18, a batch of international incoming mail from Germany arrived at the railway port mail processing center in Tuanjie Village, Chongqing municipality via “Yuxinou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe)” railway, which marks the mail transportation channel via China-Europe freight train has achieved two-way flow.

Compared with the first return test mail in 2018, three major breakthroughs have been made this time: firstly, customs barriers have been cleared in the overseas sections and the items can be declared and cleared as postal mail at the customs; secondly, a wider variety of items can be accepted, including child safety seats, 3C digital products, decorations, etc.; thirdly, for the first time, as the first port of entry for international mail, Chongqing, in accordance with the “streamlined customs clearance procedure”, will carry out customs clearance for international inbound mail then distribute them to 10 provinces or municipalities including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Hunan, Guangdong, etc.

In the next step, Chongqing Postal Branch will make every effort to build a national railway hub for cargoes and mail, perfect entry function of the railway port, actively work on China Post Group, the State Post Bureau and the General Administration of Customs to strive for the normalization of “streamlined customs clearance procedure”, so as to promote two-way distribution between Chongqing’s railway mail port and European surface mail.
