Postal Parcels for Mothers deliver warmth to millions of mothers in ten years
|China Post News|2022-04-28

In May 2022, the Postal Parcel for Mothers project will celebrate its 10th anniversary. In 2021, the implementation funds of the project amounted to nearly 30 million yuan (over 4.46 million US dollars). With the logistics support of China Post, the project distributed more than 100,000 postal parcels to mothers in 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. In the past 10 years, the cumulative implementation funds of this project have surpassed more than 200 million yuan (about 29.74 million US dollars), and the project has distributed more than 1 million parcels, benefiting more than 1 million people.

In May 2012, the Postal Parcel for Mothers project was officially launched by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and supported by China Post with its green channel of delivery. This project mainly selects the daily necessities for impoverished mothers, mobilizes people from all walks of life to donate them on a one-on-one basis, and delivers the parcels containing these necessities accurately to the needy mothers to help them out.

In the past ten years, China Post has taken advantage of its nationwide network that reaches all corners of the country, especially the less-developed rural areas, to provide support for the Postal Parcel for Mothers project. Giving play to its numerous outlets, China Post takes all these outlets as offline donation channels for the project, and has developed an open and transparent platform that facilitates easy donation and targeted aid. At the same time, these outlets have hosted various forms of public welfare activities in order to gather more social resources and function as a publicity and promotion platform. China Post has made great efforts to strengthen cooperation across the whole network, setting up 6 warehousing and distribution centers in Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and Wuhan, coordinating and arranging for such processes as material receipt, storage, information processing, and dispatch. A charity and public welfare information system has been developed with functions such as parcel warehousing, information processing, thermal printing of addresses, code scanning delivery, logistics information tracking, aiming to improve project management efficiency and ensure timely delivery and service quality.

At critical moments, China Post fulfills its responsibility as the "national team" of the postal industry through public welfare projects. At the early stage of COVID-19, CWDF launched a public welfare project to send care packages to women workers fighting against the epidemic. In response, China Post quickly opened a green channel for epidemic prevention donations. Postal branches of Yunnan, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Hebei and Hubei made every effort to coordinate, allocated designated personnel and vehicles to transport the epidemic prevention supplies to several places in Hubei Province in a secure and timely manner, and efficiently completed the delivery of 11 batches of such supplies, thereby highly praised by CWDF. But it is not the only time that China Post has provided special support. No matter whether it was routine project execution or emergency relief in disaster areas, China Post has ensured the accurate delivery of postal parcels for mothers over the past decade.
