The General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) has approved that the incoming international mail is to be transported to Chongqing by the return trip of China-Europe freight trains (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe railway), where the mail will be shipped to other parts of the country after customs clearance. This marks that Chongqing has become the first city to handle incoming international mail transported by China-Europe freight trains.

Chongqing Postal Branch successfully carried out two trials for this project in November 2018 and March this year. And the trial of this year has made a new breakthrough that all mail items can be declared and cleared at the Customs stationed at Chongqing mail center and then sent to 10 other provinces (municipalities). At present, Chongqing Postal Branch is actively conducting business negotiations with foreign postal operators concerned in order to start regular incoming international mail transport via Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains as soon as possible.
