On May 26, the opening ceremony of China (Zhengzhou) major international mail hub port was held at Zhengzhou International Mail Office of Exchange, marking that Zhengzhou has become the fourth major port of international mail hub in China after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The inbound and outbound international mail can now be directly distributed and dispatched from Zhengzhou, with no need to be transited to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, which not only shortens the transmission time of international mail, but also reduces the risk of the spread of COVID-19, and saves the time and costs of cross-border e-commerce transactions as well. At the same time, it will also promote Henan province to achieve the transformation of its location and transportation advantages into economic advantages as a hub.

In recent years, with the rising of Henan's location and transportation advantages, the status of Zhengzhou as an international mail hub port has continuously improved. Since the year of 2015, the volume of mail converging to Zhengzhou International Mail Hub Port from all over China has increased by an average of 131% annually. In 2021, it launched a total of 348 international mail charter flights to South Korea, Japan, Europe and the United States, with the overall inbound and outbound business volume reaching 21,400 tons. Presently, it is able to make up mails for 50 cities in 39 countries and regions, thus becoming a main logistics channel for cross-border e-commerce in Henan. In the first four months of this year, Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport has handled a total of 227,300 tons of freight and mail, of which international (regional) freight and mail reached 192,100 tons, a 15.05% year-on-year increase.

It is understood that the construction of major international mail hub port in Zhengzhou was officially approved in March this year. In April, it completed the trial operation of the first batch of 575 inbound international mails made up directly for Zhengzhou from South Korea, and distributed them successfully from Zhengzhou to 7 domestic offices of exchange including Qingdao, Changchun and Yantai, which means that the "last mile" of opening and distributing the inbound international mails made up for Zhengzhou has become smooth and normal. At present, the major international mail hub port in Zhengzhou is under construction in an orderly manner. In the future, Henan Postal Branch will build Zhengzhou international mail hub port into a model postal port superb both at home and abroad, which will forge ahead to deeply integrate into the Belt and Road Initiative and facilitate developing Henan into an open and strong province, and make greater contributions to building the new development paradigm featuring dual circulation, in which domestic and overseas markets reinforce each other.
