|China Post News|2022-08-31

From August 26 to 29, the 2nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Philatelic Exhibition was held in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The exhibition was jointly hosted by the All-China Philatelic Federation and the Dongguan Municipal Government. Its main venue is located at the Humen Convention and Exhibition Center, covering an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters, where on display were 1,200 frames of exhibits, over 200,000 stamps and other philatelic products, selected by 32 philatelic associations at provincial-level as well as from Hong Kong and Macao.

On the opening day of the exhibition, China Post issued a prepaid commemorative postcard entitled Dongguan Humen 20222nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Philatelic Exhibition, which captured the highlights of the exhibition and made a rare locality philatelic product for the vast number of philatelists. As is reported, the postcard is jointly designed by Yuan Yishan, the carver of this year’s zodiac stamp The Year of the Tiger, and Liu Zhong, a famous Chinese painter. Other products about this exhibition include a commemorative cover, a souvenir folder and a mascot, which are designed respectively by Wilson Chi-Ian Lam, a designer from Macao, Wang Huming, a famous Chinese stamp designer, and Kan Tai Keung, a famous designer from Hong Kong. Together, these products reflect the cultural fusion in the Greater Bay Area. For the first time, the exhibition has introduced the concept of "metaverse", which has enabled the audience to see the exhibition remotely through a variety of technological means, and provided them with a VR form of exhibition featuring immersive experience, real-time interaction, and O2O synchronization. During the philatelic exhibition, a series of activities were organized, including a summit forum on philately, philatelic lectures, an auction of philatelic products, a rarity appraisal, a book release and intangible cultural heritage shows.

In order to serve philatelists well, Dongguan Postal Branch has set up in the main exhibition hall a theme post office, the Greater Bay Area Post Office, complete with areas of service, sales, cultural display and interaction. The cultural display area showcases services of China Post such as the universal postal service, parcel, express and logistics business, financial services and rural e-commerce. The theme post office also displays the special services provided by theme post offices in the major cities of the Greater Bay Area, and renders 18 commemorative postmarks on site, which have become unique "marks" of the urban landscapes in the Greater Bay Area.
