On September 8th, the commemorative stamp entitled The 120th anniversary of Beijing Normal University was issued.
With one piece in set, the stamp takes the emblem of Beijing Normal University (BNU) as its main body, supplemented by elements such as the university motto “学为人师,行为世范” (Learn, so as to instruct others. Act, to serve as example to all.) as well as the main building of BNU. Besides, it takes fine circular lines around the emblem as the background, representing the transmission of the unceasing sound of muduo (the central image of the university emblem, which is a kind of bell used in ancient China and symbolizes the sound of teaching) in tune with the beat of the times. With the overall composition full and clear, the stamp highlights BNU’s spirit and mission, and fully demonstrates its profound historical heritage and vigorous atmosphere of the times.
This set of stamp uses offset printing technology with 6 spot colors, including black, dark blue, light blue, brown, beige and light gray, creating a sense of nobility, solemnity and harmony. The main image of the stamp, BNU's emblem, adopts a calm and deep blue color integrating sky blue, ocean blue and dream blue, a color that can touch the viewers’ soul directly. The technical team of Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited has specially developed a kind of liquid crystal dark blue engraving ink for this set of stamp, which enables the viewers to see the glittering light of the emblem image with their naked eyes under sunlight or torch light, thus in line with the theme “a majestic university with a galaxy of talents”.
With the denomination of 1.2 yuan and the planned circulation of 7.8 million sets, the stamp is designed by Yu Tong, engraved by Yuan Yishan and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited. It is available at the designated postal outlets, online mall of China Philately (https://jiyou.11185.cn), the mobile app of China Post, the WeChat Mall for philatelic products in the official WeChat account and the WeChat mini program of China Post Group. In order to present more information about the stamp, China Post will release its digital contents through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where philatelists can learn more about the stamp via its AR function.
