The awards ceremony of the 3rd China Postcard Cultural Creativity and Design Contest & the 1st International Children’s Postcard-painting Contest held in Xiamen

On October 27, the awards ceremony of the final competition of the 3rd China Postcard Cultural Creativity and Design Contest & the 1st “I Love Pandas” International Children’s Postcard-painting Contest was held in Xiamen City, Fujian Province. The competition aimed at implementing and strengthening cultural confidence and shouldering the responsibility of promoting Chinese culture. Through establishing the platform of postcard cultural creativity and design, the event comprehensively coordinated and forged postcard-themed Chinese cultural activity, in which the most popular postcard products were selected. The competition not only disseminated Chinese style and beauty, but also promoted Chinese traditional culture, furthermore enhanced the integration and exchange of cultures all over the world.

The competition, which lasted half a year, was started in March 2019. 23, 000 entries were received totally, of which 14, 000 ones came from the public. The total number of votes reached 3.11 million. At the same time, other sub-matches such as the 1st “I Love Pandas” International Children’s Postcard-painting Competition, the Theme Contest of Chinese Stories in Picture Books and the Postcard Creativity and Design Contest of Assisting “Little Winter Olympic Messengers” were also held. It is worth mentioning that the International Children’s Postcard-painting Competition received over 2000 sets of entries from 28 countries and regions including Russia, UK, France, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Kenya, etc., which uplifted the international influences of this activity.

Judges of the competition were invited including Dai Daquan, professor and doctoral advisor of Tsinghua University, Liu Zhong, governor of China Artists Association, Wu Guanying, professor and doctoral advisor of Info Art Design Department of Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, Yan Bingwu, a famous stamp engraver and artist, Wang Yifei, dean of Media Animation School, Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Xu Dingyi, chief editor of the monthly magazine Rong Bao Zhai and assistant director of Rong Bao Zhai Publishing House, and other experts, so that the professionalism and influences of the activity were guaranteed. After the preliminary contest and the semifinals, jointly selected by experts and netizens, the professional group and the amateur group each had 18 sets of postcard works chosen for the final competition. The themes of the shortlisted entries ranged from the traditional sceneries, festivals, and Chinese zodiacs to modern and popular comics and animation and fashion. In the final competition, the rules of competitive games were introduced. The designers came to the stage from behind the scenes and shared their design inspiration and the story behind the entries on the spot. Judges, adhering to the principles of justice, fairness and openness, voted and selected winners of the gold, silver and bronze award of the professional and amateur group respectively.
