On May 24, Guangdong Postal Branch announced its action plan for implementing carbon peak and carbon neutrality, aiming to prioritize energy conservation and carbon reduction, low-carbon transportation, green packaging and green finance, focus on the application of green and low-carbon technologies, work towards carbon peak and carbon neutrality in an effective and orderly way, and eventually push forward ecological and sustainable development of postal services in Guangdong province.

To attain the goals, Guangdong Postal Branch will carry out actions in four aspects.

In energy conservation and carbon reduction, Guangdong Postal Branch will make use of the rooftops of mail centers, local centers, warehouses and comprehensive office buildings, and adopt distributed photovoltaic and building integrated photovoltaic technologies to build "photovoltaic plus energy storage" systems, thus increasing the use of self-produced green energy and reducing the proportion of traditional energy consumption. It will also promote green and low-carbon projects in new buildings step by step, and renovate the existing buildings to achieve energy conservation.

In low-carbon transportation, Guangdong Postal Branch will actively promote the application of new and clean energy vehicles, expand their scale and increase their proportion in new delivery vehicles. It will speed up eliminating old fossil fuel vehicles and strictly control their excessive emission. In addition, Guangdong Postal Branch will expand high-speed rail transportation of mail and improve overall transportation efficiency by optimizing the organization mode of transportation. It will also strengthen the construction and application of intelligent transportation systems, and improve its level in this regard.

In green packaging, Guangdong Postal Branch will promote the recyclability of mail packaging, and speed up the application of recyclable packaging in parcel, express and logistics services. It will push ahead with packaging reduction, and promote integration of commodity packaging and express mail packaging by strengthening its collaboration and co-governance with the upstream e-commerce platforms. Besides, Guangdong Postal Branch will also roll out green packaging of mail items, reinforce the control of plastic pollution, and restrict the use of non-degradable plastic packaging materials.

In green finance, Guangdong Postal Branch will strengthen product and service innovation, help publicize the e-CNY or digital RMB, and enrich integrated online and offline service scenarios, so as to promote green consumption and reduce carbon emissions in financial transactions. It will also promote green financial products, and expand electronic banking, mobile applications, credit factory and other green, low-carbon and environmentally friendly digital financial service channels, thus advancing business transition from offline to online.
