Chairman Liu Aili meets Chairman Mahmoud Liaei of Iran Post

On July 3, Chairman Liu Aili of China Post Group Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as China Post) met with Deputy Minister Mahmoud Liaei of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, also chairman and CEO of the National Post Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran (hereinafter referred to as Iran Post), and his entourage in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on actively implementing the extensive consensus reached by the presidents of the two countries and on further carrying out exchanges and cooperation. They agreed to establish a joint working group and build a communication and coordination mechanism to jointly promote the development of postal services in China and Iran.

Mahmoud Liaei said, China has opened direct flights, rail and sea transport to many cities in Iran, making transportation between the two countries much easier. Iran Post has an airport in the local free trade zone, which facilitates cargo transfer in Iran and its neighboring countries. He hopes that with the help of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the plan for China-Iran comprehensive cooperation and so on, Iran Post can cooperate with China Post in postal infrastructure construction, cross-border logistics and cross-border e-commerce platforms, and build Iran into a logistics distribution center between China and West Asia, so as to serve the two nations and more than 500 million people neighboring Iran, thus better promoting economic and trade cooperation and development between the two countries and even between the East and West Asia. He also hopes that Iran Post can learn from China Post the advanced experience in automation and smart technology to boost its own development.

Liu Aili extended warm welcome to Mahmoud Liaei and his entourage, and expressed his appreciation for their trust in China Post. He said, China and Iran, as two ancient civilizations, have a lasting bond of friendship. At present, China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership has been deepening continuously. The two countries have shared mutual respect and trust in politics, and had frequent exchanges in economy and increased share of trade. The connection between designated postal operators of the two countries has also become closer and closer, and their business exchanges have been increasing. The two Posts are in a good period of cooperation opportunity. And China Post will actively implement the consensus reached by the presidents of the two countries, and deepen exchanges and cooperation with Iran Post in various fields. In terms of postal services, China Post will continue to provide international letter-post, parcel-post and EMS services based on the multilateral framework of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), and increase the mail volume between the two sides. In terms of cross-border logistics, China Post will give full play to its advantages of self-owned air cargo resources to promote the construction of logistics channels between the two countries. In terms of cross-border e-commerce, China Post will promote the development of e-commerce trade between the two countries with the help of the mature system and resources of ule.com, the e-commerce platform of China Post.

Vice President Wen Shaoqi of China Post Group, Second Counsellor Reza Pirpiran of the embassy of Iran in Beijing, and relevant executives from the Parcel, Express and Logistics Business Unit and the Department of General Affairs of China Post Group also attended the meeting.
