On September 5 and 6, the Packaging and the Environment Subcommittee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/TC 122/SC 4) held a meeting to discuss the international standard for express packaging China Post has participated in formulating. This is the first time that China Post has engaged in formulating ISO standards, which shows the increased influence of China Post.
On September 5, ISO/TC 122/SC 4 “Packaging and Environment” held a seminar for the standard made by Express Packaging Working Group (WG10), in which the Postal Scientific Research and Planning Institute Limited (hereinafter referred to as PSRPI) was invited to participate on behalf of China Post. At the seminar, experts from China, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Sweden, Germany and France discussed the international standard formulated by PSRPI and other parties. This standard put forth the ecological design principles and evaluation requirements of express packaging as well as guidelines for the stakeholders during the lifecycle of the packaging, aiming to reduce the adverse impact of express packaging on the environment and enhance the sustainability of express packaging around the world.
Sustainability is an important global issue. Therefore, the coordinated development of express packaging and the ecological environment has received worldwide attention. China Post will take its engagement in formulating international standards as an opportunity, fully leverage its expertise, actively coordinate with parties at home and abroad, and provide more technical support and China’s wisdom to promote the green and low-carbon development of the global postal and express delivery industry.
