Recently, China Post Group Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as China Post Group) held a special meeting to promote the first mandatory national standard for express packaging, Limits of Heavy Metals and Other Specific Substances in Express Packaging (GB 43352-2023), and push forward hazard-free green packaging. The standard will take effect on June 1 this year.

Jointly drafted by China National Institute of Standardization and Postal Scientific Research and Planning Institute, and released by the State Administration for Market Regulation (the Standardization Administration of China), the standard (GB 43352-2023) has established a bottom line of express packaging by setting clear limits for heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and specific substances such as solvent residues, bisphenol A and phthalates. When officially put into effect, the standard will become a legal requirement and has administrative law enforcement functions. Therefore, it is of great significance for reducing the adverse effects of express packaging on human health and the environment, promoting the green transformation and upgrading of the express industry, and improving the packaging standardization of China Post Group.
