March 10 this year marks the 120th anniversary of the founding of Red Cross Society of China (hereinafter referred to as RCSC). On that day, China Post is to issue a commemorative stamp (one piece in set) entitled The 120th Anniversary of Red Cross Society of China. On February 28, a ceremony was held in Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited to kick off the printing of the stamp. Vice-president Wang Ke of the RCSC and Chairman Liu Aili of China Post Group Corporation Limited (China Post Group) signed and approved the stamp proof on site, and jointly started the printing machine.
The design of the stamp features a red cross, combined with elements like interlocking hearts and a dove. The red cross in the sun rays symbolizes the spirit of humanity, fraternity and dedication, reflecting the glorious development of the RCSC over the past 120 years.
Concise and solemn, the design has prominent highlights and harmonious visual effect. It condenses the RCSC’s 120-year glorious development into the tiny postage stamp, emphasizing that the Red Cross is a symbol and a banner, and that humanitarianism is the greatest consensus that is able to unite different civilizations.
At the ceremony, China Post Group presented the RCSC with the stamp sheets of The 50th Anniversary of Red Cross Society of China and The 100th Anniversary of Red Cross Society of China. In return, the RCSC presented China Post Group with two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
