On March 23, the first low-altitude drone logistics distribution route in Hubei province, developed by Maojian District of Shiyan, completed its maiden flight at the Railway Station Post Office of Shiyan Postal Branch, delivering the first postal express item to mountainous areas by drone.

The flight was conducted from Shiyan Railway Station Post Office to the mail delivery and logistics joint distribution center in Maota township, with a distance of 10.5 kilometers as the crow flies and an altitude of 300 meters. Carrying a load of 5 kilograms, the drone completed the journey in a total of 15 minutes. Compared with the delivery made by postal vans, the transportation time reduced by 60 percent, and the transportation costs was cut by approximately 20 percent. Shiyan Postal Branch has provided high-quality and efficient service for this maiden flight, which ensured the success of the mission, and was therefore highly praised by the local government, relevant municipal departments and all sectors of society. The success of the first drone route also laid the foundation for the launch of other low-altitude logistics distribution routes in the future.
