China-Mongolia land mail route resumes
|China Post News|2024-05-20

On May 9, under the supervision of customs officials, more than 10 bags of mail from Erenhot Office of Exchange (and Mail Unit) in Inner Mongolia autonomous region were loaded onto a truck after customs clearance, and departed for Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This marks that China-Mongolia land mail route has officially resumed operation after 33 years of suspension. This batch of outbound international mail includes apparel, cosmetics, small household appliances, toys, foodstuffs, etc.

Erenhot Postal Branch has always been responsible for international mail transit. Starting from May 1 this year, Erenhot Office of Exchange (and Mail Unit) has resumed operation. The Mongolia-bound international mail collected by Erenhot Postal Branch can then be directly dispatched to Mongolia, saving the trouble of transit, reducing the processing time by about 7 days, and speeding up the international mail between China and Mongolia.

In addition to international mail service, Erenhot Postal Branch also offers cross-border e-commerce purchasing service with door pickup, duty-free mailing and trackable last-mile delivery, bringing more convenience to the merchants in Erenhot for their international trade and the border residents there for their shopping and consumption. As is estimated, after the stable operation of this route, it will be able to dispatch about 2000 pieces of outbound international mail every day, and will become an important logistics channel for the northward opening up of the “Belt and Road”.
