On June 19, a China-Europe freight train (Guangzhou Zengchengxi-Moscow Selyatino) launched by Guangdong Postal Branch successfully departed from Zengchengxi Railway Station, also the East Guangzhou Highway-Railway Intermodal Transport Hub. The 20-container-long train loaded with 330 tonnes of goods, mainly furniture and household appliances, was expected to arrive in Moscow in 15 days. It marks that Guangdong Postal Branch has taken a strategic step to serve the overseas market development of the manufacturing industry through its integrated service of international mail, commercial express and cross-border e-commerce.

In order to effectively support the manufacturing industry to go global, Guangdong Postal Branch set up a China-Europe Railway Express project team in April this year, focusing on conducting market research, visiting clients and building more competitive channels than those of the competitors. In May, it issued a notice of piloting China-Europe Railway Express and China-Laos freight trains for commercial channel services throughout Guangdong province, targeting the demands of cross-border e-commerce, factories and industry and trade integration clients for diversified cross-border logistics service. The above-mentioned transaction belongs to the first client the China-Europe Railway Express project team has successfully developed. Guangdong Postal Branch intends to accumulate experience through this transaction and set an example for the development of similar clients in the province.

The distinctive feature of the pilot business is centering on the market and constructing competitive channels. Its advantages mainly include cooperating with government-led platform companies to acquire first-hand freight train resources, and providing nationwide container trucks, domestic and overseas bonded warehousing and one-stop supply chain management services. In the next stage, Guangdong Postal Branch will provide self-declaration service to help reduce operating costs, increase price competitiveness, and allow more independent control. What’s more, Guangdong Postal Branch has arranged for designated personnel and task force to take care of the project, monitor the whole process and ensure efficient and smooth customs clearance of the goods. It has taken innovative measures such as paperless and priority inspection to speed up customs clearance.
