Two maritime mail routes from Tianjin to the Netherlands and the United States of America have recently opened, with which mail items can be dispatched directly from Tianjin Port to the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands and the port of Newark in the USA. Among them, the Europe-bound mail items can be transited via the port of Rotterdam to more than 20 countries in Central and Western Europe.

With these two routes, clothing, home appliances, toys and other outbound mail items from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and other northern regions can be directly shipped to other countries from Tianjin, reducing the domestic transportation and container gate-in time by three to four days, hence increasing efficiency and cutting costs of logistics. It is reported that the two mail routes will be operated once a week in the early stage, and the shipping schedules will be adjusted in due course in the future with the increase of business volume. In recent years, Tianjin Postal Branch has fully leveraged its advantages in geographical location and continually improved the service capacity of Tianjin Office of Exchange (Mail Unit) to better support the development of cross-border e-commerce.
