China Post Group Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as China Post) recently released a special action plan for AI applications from 2024 to 2026, defining the overarching approach, major tasks and supporting measures of China Post AI applications over the coming three years and finalizing the work priorities in 2024.
The plan clarified the overarching approach as follows: focusing on the deep integration of AI and different business of China Post, placing much stress on the development of technology system and coordinated application system for both postal and banking services, achieving its strategic goals in three steps, and facilitating its implementation from four major aspects including building a “one plus N” postal large model application system, strengthening application scenario empowerment, enhancing high-quality data supply, and fostering an AI integration and co-creation ecosystem.
According to the plan, China Post will step up the integrated applications of traditional intelligence and large models by the end of 2024. It will start with scenarios like financial assistants, e-commerce customer service and parcel, express and logistics service, and promote the applications of three general-purpose large models and five industrial large models. By the end of 2025, China Post will achieve comprehensive AI empowerment of its core business, realizing in-depth applications of AI in over 50 business scenarios. By the end of 2026, China Post will have gradually built a postal AI technology ecology.
The plan finalizes 10 major tasks in four aspects. First, China Post will develop a “one plus N” application system featuring four horizontal and four vertical large models, establish a postal large model computing power platform coordinated by China Post Group, and strengthen applied research on large model core technologies. Second, China Post will reinforce the empowerment of application scenarios, empowering the innovation and development of mail service, parcel, express and logistics service, financial service and e-commerce service through digitization and intelligence, and empowering management optimization and upgrading. Third, China Post will construct high quality AI large model datasets, enhancing the supply capacity of high quality large model data resources. Fourth, China Post will establish an AI integration and co-creation ecosystem, building an AI technology resource sharing and coordination system and a co-creation mechanism integrating enterprises, universities and research institutes.
