On September 3, Hangzhou Postal Branch in Zhejiang province officially launched the Japan-bound consolidation shipping project in cooperation with Taobao & Tmall Group, marking a new breakthrough in its international business consolidation shipping projects.

Since March this year, the International Business Company of Hangzhou Postal Branch has focused on e-commerce platforms and communicated with Taobao & Tmall Group for several times to gain deeper insights into its demands. After six months of careful planning, the company fully leveraged the advantages of the coordination mechanism with the provincial postal branch, and succeeded in winning the bid for the air freight service in the B, C and D sections (the international line-haul transport, customs clearance and last-mile delivery) of Taobao & Tmall Group’s consolidation shipping project of Japan-bound food and sensitive goods. It began to put the project into trial operation on August 8.

During the trial operation period, the Internation Business Company of Hangzhou Postal Branch reserved the transport capacity in advance, and then arranged the time for the processes of collection, mailing and processing by hour through reverse scheduling, ensuring that all indicators were superior to the competitors’. At the same time, it assigned dedicated personnel and vehicles to collect mail items from Taobao & Tmall Group’s consolidation warehouse for several times every afternoon. Once fully loaded, the vehicles would immediately transport the items to the centralized mailing points of international mail. Then the office of exchange sorted the items, made up mails, transported them to Shanghai Mail Unit the same night, and then dispatch them to Narita International Airport in Tokyo and Kansai International Airport in Osaka via charter flights of China Postal Airlines. According to statistics, the average delivery time for mail items on this route is 3.82 days, with a delivery rate of 98 percent.
