He Jianzhong, CPC member and deputy to the 11th, 12th and 13th National People’s Congress, is a postmaster in Jiangping-lu Post Office of Taixing Postal Branch in Jiangsu province.

He Jianzhong is a postmaster who creates miracles. After he took office as the postmaster of the Jiangping-lu Post Office in March 1997, he led his team to work hard. At the end of that year, the performance of the post office rose from the third place from the bottom in Taixing Postal Branch at the beginning of the year to the top three, with the growth rate of various services ranking first in the postal branch. Today, the balance of postal savings service in Jiangping-lu Post Office has grown from 3 million yuan (about 421,662 US dollars) to 550 million yuan (about 77.31 million US dollars), with its business performance ranking first among all post offices nationwide for 10 consecutive years.

He Jianzhong is a well-known “living Lei Feng” — enthusiastic about public welfare and always ready to help others. Since he became a postman in 1982, he has been lending a hand to anyone in need. And over time, helping others has become his habit. In order to better serve the people, he founded the “He Jianzhong Volunteer Service Club” in 2014, and took the lead in establishing nine volunteer teams, which has helped more than 50,000 people.

He Jianzhong was elected as a deputy to the National People’s Congress for three consecutive terms. He fulfilled his duties conscientiously and submitted 152 proposals and three motions. Local procuratorial authorities and postal companies in Taixing, Jiangsu, jointly established a prevention postal route for work-related crimes led by He Jianzhong, spreading anti-corruption and clean government construction. This initiative has now been promoted nationwide.

He has been awarded the National May 1 Labor Medal, and won such honors as model worker across the national postal system, outstanding deputy to the National People’s Congress, nominee for the national ethical role models, and the National Model Worker.
