Recently, the project “Research on High-Speed Sorting Technology for Light and Flat Items” undertaken by Shanxi Postal Branch has been checked and successfully accepted by a panel of experts from China Post Group.

The project mainly focuses on solving the problems of low efficiency, low accuracy and high labor consumption in sorting light and flat mail items. Shanxi Postal Branch organized a research and development team to tackle these problems, and had the technology implemented in Taiyuan mail processing center after eight months of research and testing. With a loop layout, the high-speed automatic sorting equipment has a total of 8 packet feeders and 348 chutes. Using enclosed trays, double-side flip and other innovative design, this equipment can sort all types of light and flat items. The project has pioneered the suspended grating detection and binding technology to bind manual scanning and the trays, completing the sorting operations by moving forward, pre-flipping, unloading and replacing. According to field testing, the feeding efficiency of the sorting equipment is 6,157 pieces per hour. And the comprehensive efficiency has increased by 40 percent compared with the original manual sorting. On the whole, it is industry-leading in the country, and provides an innovative, reliable and efficient solution for processing small packets.
