In 2024, Guangdong Postal Branch demonstrated remarkable achievements in the field of Green Post initiative by meeting all the 10 key indicators assigned by China Post Group Corporation Limited, such as avoiding secondary packaging for e-commerce express items, utilizing recyclable packaging for intra-city items, using electronic waybills on EMS items, and asking contracted clients to sign off on the environmental protection agreements, thereby setting an example for green development within the postal sector.
Firstly, Guangdong Postal Branch made every effort to promote the packaging standards of mail and express items. It organized training programs on packaging standardization requirements for front-line postal clerks and postmen, proactively guided clients to adopt alternative packaging solutions, and effectively reduced the use of plastic packaging bags. It also conducted regular sampling inspections of mail items, and randomly inspected a total of 235,000 pieces of mail throughout the year. Among them, 99.2 percent mail items comply with the packaging standards.
Secondly, Guangdong Postal Branch vigorously promoted the use of new energy vehicles and accelerated the elimination of old vehicles in transportation. In 2024, it possessed 1,352 new energy vehicles, and added or replaced a total of 1,142 vehicles for last-mile delivery, among which 1,076 vehicles use new energy, accounting for 94.2 percent of the newly-added vehicles, thus greatly reducing carbon emissions in the process of transportation.
Thirdly, Guangdong Postal Branch actively carried out the rooftop photovoltaic initiative in its express hubs. In 2024, it completed the rooftop photovoltaic construction projects in the South China Land Mail Center (Phase I), Dongguan Mail Center, Huizhou Mail Center, and the Comprehensive Business Building of Zhaoqing Postal Branch, to make full use of solar energy and enable green transformation of energy consumption. In addition, postal enterprises in Guangzhou, Zhuhai and other cities actively explored drone delivery, and adopted intelligent equipment like unmanned vehicles to innovate last-mile delivery approaches and reduce carbon emissions.
