At 10:39 a.m. on May 22, China Postal Airlines’ B737F aircraft loaded with cross-border e-commerce goods took off from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and landed successfully at Tokyo Narita International Airport at 13:32, marking the official launch of the Hangzhou-Tokyo international air cargo route. The route operates 3 flights per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Located in the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, Hangzhou is at the intersection of the extension of the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. In recent years, Hangzhou has taken the “Digital Silk Road” initiative as a link to reshape the global trade landscape, with its cross-border e-commerce trade volume exceeding 200 billion yuan (about 27.82 US dollars) last year. The launch of the Hangzhou-Tokyo air cargo route aligns with the growth of the thriving local economy, and will provide high-quality air transport capacity to facilitate developing Hangzhou into a global e-commerce hub.
The China-Japan air route is known as a “golden route” in the international air cargo market. Previously, China Postal Airlines has operated 13 routes to Japan. The launch of the Hangzhou-Tokyo route is an important measure China Post has taken to keep strengthening the development of its global logistics supply chain system and improve the layout of its international freight logistics network while further enhancing its capabilities to serve e-commerce enterprises.
