Starting from July, China Post has offered a 30-percent postage discount on domestic ordinary parcels sent by officers and soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army and the People’s Armed Police Force, civilian personnel posted in the military and veterans. This discount applies when they send parcels as such at all postal outlets nationwide upon presentation of their valid professional certificates (including military officer certificates, police officer certificates, civilian personnel certificates, soldier certificates, preferential treatment certificates for veterans and the like) and identity documents. During the demobilization period, domestic ordinary parcels collected by post offices at designated locations in military camps can enjoy even greater postage discounts.
Over the years, China Post has been keeping its long-standing commitment to providing free delivery service of ordinary letters for conscripts. In addition, it has actively leveraged its numerous business outlets to carry out military support activities with industry-specific characteristics. China Post has signed cooperation agreements with veterans affairs authorities on providing support and preferential treatment for military personnel, veterans and their families. It has conducted in-depth cooperation in financial services, special postal routes, publicity, employment and other forms of support, and provided exclusive preferential EMS services for veterans and other entitled groups.
To address the challenges posed by the remote locations and inconvenient transportation of the military garrisons, China Post will, in the next step, set up post offices and dedicated mailboxes at military camps, open designated postal routes, and explore unmanned delivery to these camps, thereby meeting the demands of the border defense troops for postal services with its utmost efforts, and providing postal support for safeguarding the nation’s frontiers.
