China Post issued a set of three commemorative stamps entitled The 70th Founding Anniversary of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on September 21. The designs of the stamps are named Amazing Xinjiang, Unity and Amity and Opening-up Highland.
The designs are created with rock-color painting techniques. The first design, Amazing Xinjiang, takes the beautiful urban scenery of Xinjiang as the main elements. The blooming roses in the foreground symbolize the sand stabilization and desert-edge containment project in the Taklimakan Desert, and the background features Muztagh Ata of Kunlun Mountains and Karakul Lake. The second design, Unity and Amity, shows the scene of unity, harmony and affinity among people of different ethnic groups and all walks of life in Xinjiang. The third design, Opening-up Highland, mainly features a China-Europe freight train and the national gate in Khorgos, with the Urumqi Tianshan International Airport, a photovoltaic power station and Mount Bogda as the distant view. The stamps vividly depict a beautiful picture where people of different ethnic groups enjoy an increasing sense of fulfillment, happiness and security. United closely like the seeds of a pomegranate, people of different ethnic groups there are working together to build Xinjiang into a beautiful region that is united, harmonious, prosperous and culturally advanced, with healthy ecosystems and people living and working in contentment in the process of advancing Chinese modernization.
This set of stamps is printed with offset technology. With saturated colors, delicate details, rich texture and a prominent thematic focus, it clearly presents Xinjiang’s iconic landscapes and regional characteristics through bright hues. The localized fluorescent effect enhances the thematic representation of the stamps, creating visually cohesive and harmonious composition and improving the overall aesthetic appeal. The set of stamps is designed by Li Dan, edited by Wang Jing, and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited. The denomination of the whole set is 3.60 yuan, and the planned circulation is 4.90 million sets.
